When I first stepped onto a jobsite, I wasn’t thinking about running a company. I just wanted steady work and a paycheck. Like most tradesmen, I learned fast, worked hard, and before long, I was running crews and handling clients—yet still collecting an hourly wage.
It didn’t take long for me to realize something wasn’t right. I was doing the work of a business owner, without the freedom or the rewards that come with it.
When I started taking on projects of my own, I learned just how brutal the business side of the trades could be.
But each mistake taught me lessons that no classroom could: how to manage cash flow, how to protect yourself legally, how to win jobs, and how to build a business that doesn’t break you.
Out of those hard lessons, I built Authority Roofing—a company known for quality work, clear communication, and customer trust.
What started as a few jobs turned into a company featured on local news and trusted by families across Utah. We didn’t just put roofs over houses—we built a reputation for doing things the right way.
Over the years, I saw the same thing happening on job after job: skilled tradesmen working their guts out, running entire projects, but never moving beyond an hourly wage.
I couldn’t shake the thought:
“If they had the right guidance, they could be running their own companies—and changing their families’ lives.”
